Between the rocks and the sea
When we approach the new thermal design space, it is impossible to avoid the question of how to deal with the creation of a new volume that would modify the unique beauty of this unspoiled landscape. The competition demand a new integrated into the environment, able to create a new dialogue between the natural and the artificial construction. Our proposal will create a new landscape configuration, where nature and man involved to achieve an unexpected new balance. This will involve some interventions on the rocks.
We propose the development of a linear sequence of functions, all overlooking the sea. This gesture is particularly important because it will allow the interior spaces offer from a continuous perception of the two fundamental elements of the landscape: the volcanic rocks and the sea. Visitors will feel embraced by such elements as they walk any space of the new volume.
Preserving the existing pedestrian path as the path to the new building from its rooftop access a nodal space where a single point of information and reception, combined with the store will become the distribution space, acting as a filter between the two functions principal: the conference and exhibition area and spa area and pools. The showroom is located in the vertical connection to the existing underground gallery.
